Freedom Of Thinking

Just another day in Hell…

Posted on | November 26, 2009 | No Comments

Or at my permanent home… some might say…

I cannot even remember how the day went by… just… it was morning and then… it was now, night time…

Went out for few minutes, just to shoot some pictures and to pay some bills, tried to organize my thoughts but nothing useful came out of this…

It is hard to keep up with the reality that seems to elude me faster and faster. That is not good… or maybe it is?

I guess soon I will find out… time is running out and I am tired to fight.

Friendship… at a distance

Posted on | November 25, 2009 | No Comments

Does it work? Does it keep its strength as time goes by? And what about the time-zone difference?

These are questions I sometimes ask myself, giving the fact that some of my dearest friends are situated a little bit… far away, like 7 to 8 hours distance, counted “backwards”, those hours meaning USA and Canada.

When you have a lot of spare time, you might be able to get online at their hours or they to get online in a time that is suitable for me, but what happens when this time reduces or sometimes disappears entirely? What then?

And, like in all… online relationships, is that enough? Instant messenger and web-cam? Is it possible to say after… one week of no conversation that the friendship is still as strong? How about two weeks of absence?

What can be done? Where do you draw the line between simple acquaintance and friendship? Is it necessary a meeting face to face in real life or will the bits and bytes be enough?

What do YOU think?

Blogging to live…

Posted on | November 24, 2009 | No Comments

No, there is no one holding a gun to my head in making me write… at least, not yet…

Let’s just say that few hours ago I had a great idea for an article, now I have… just this feeling that somehow I have to write… something, in order to say at the end of the day that I did something with my life…

There is a phrase that kept bugging me for the last weeks, actually… I wanted to be a writer, now I have the time to write, I can write (or at least those were the… early reviews) so why the fuck am I not writing?

What is happening to my brain?

I do think that one of the versions is that I’ve reached my limits and I am ashamed that I will not be the “wonder” my grandparents wanted me to be… and that is… killing me…

I am also afraid that… well, all of my friends reached more in their life and lived more than I did and, back in the day, I was “the chosen one”…

Eh, what do I know? I am just a drunken man, staring at the stars and wondering if the world would be better without him…

The secret of success is to know how to hide your failures.

AND/OR

If you fail the first time, kill yourself to avoid a second failure.

Failure…

Posted on | October 13, 2009 | No Comments

This is the first entry of a story of a downfall… no successes, no great accomplishments… just the story of what it is to try to learn, try to achieve greatness and then… just to be in front of a computer, writing about your failures and thinking about committing suicide, just so you won’t be a burden for those around you… maybe some of you will find it interesting… most of you won’t… but, this is it and the clock is ticking…

And it’s on the way!

Just watched the first qualifiers for the new Formula One Season. Man, that was awesome!

Who would’ve believed a month ago that Barrichello and Button will take part in the new season, but to be on the front row of the grid with only 7 days of testing????

Now we have a real championship! The teams from the back of the grid are now in front and the “big guns” have to find the antidote… I don’t know what the fuss is all about with the rear diffusers… I say give it to all the teams, make it more challenging… I hope that the shape showed today by Brawn GP, Red Bull and Williams is here to stay and that the championship will be wide open!

I am a Ferrari fan, but if Barrichello takes the championship, I will be even happier!

So, bring it on! “The Circus” is in town and I’ve got tickets in the front row!

The Grid for The Australian GP:

1 Jenson Button Brawn 1:26.202
2 Rubens Barrichello Brawn 0:01.001
3 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull 0:01.326
4 Robert Kubica BMW 0:01.410
5 Nico Rosberg Williams 0:01.469
6 Timo Glock Toyota 0:01.471
7 Felipe Massa Ferrari 0:01.529
8 Jarno Trulli Toyota 0:01.623
9 Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 0:01.659
10 Mark Webber Red Bull 0:01.742
11 Nick Heidfeld BMW 0:00.000
12 Fernando Alonso Renault 0:00.101
13 Kazuki Nakajima Williams 0:00.103
14 Heikki Kovalainen McLaren 0:00.222
15 Lewis Hamilton McLaren 0:00.950
16 Sebastien Buemi Toro Rosso 0:00.999
17 Nelson Piquet Renault 0:01.094
18 Giancarlo Fisichella Force India 0:01.173
19 Adrian Sutil Force India 0:01.238
20 Sebastien Bourdais Toro Rosso 0:01.460

And, the updated grid after the penalties “granted” to the Toyota team (Brawn GP and Williams are next?) and the penalty charged to Hamilton’s account after a gear-box change…

1 Jenson Button Brawn 1:26.202
2 Rubens Barrichello Brawn 0:01.001
3 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull 0:01.326
4 Robert Kubica BMW 0:01.410
5 Nico Rosberg Williams 0:01.469
6 Felipe Massa Ferrari 0:01.529
7 Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 0:01.659
8 Mark Webber Red Bull 0:01.742
9 Nick Heidfeld BMW 0:00.000
10 Fernando Alonso Renault 0:00.101
11 Kazuki Nakajima Williams 0:00.103
12 Heikki Kovalainen McLaren 0:00.222
13 Sebastien Buemi Toro Rosso 0:00.999
14 Nelson Piquet Renault 0:01.094
15 Giancarlo Fisichella Force India 0:01.173
16 Adrian Sutil Force India 0:01.238
17 Sebastien Bourdais Toro Rosso 0:01.460

December 1st… Anti-AIDS Day…

Posted on | November 27, 2008 | 3 Comments

Briefly… 33 million people around the world are suffering from this disease… 2,7 million were newly infected in 2007… 2,0 million people died from this disease in 2007… in the meantime, the race for a vaccine is ongoing… but not very much… why? Because pharmaceutical companies make billions from the HIV/AIDS treatment… why bother with a cure when you can “walk it”?

It’s terrifing… but the fight has just started… unfortunatelly, in the countries where it is needed the most, the least is done… because HIV/AIDS has the highes prevalence in countries and continents with poor healthcare systems and where hunger and poverty are through the roof… Africa mainly… Asia… and Eastern Europe… does anyone see the connection? Some say that there was a plan to wipe out the poor and the hungry and to eliminate most of the African population… it was said it is cheaper than feeding them…

There are organisations that base on volunteers to fight this disease… join them… Make your voices heard… and inform the population about this, about the dangers of unsafe sex, about other STD and about the fact that if you get infected with HIV, that won’t kill you, but a subsequent flu might…

Think about it… don’t blame those who have the infection… for the most of them, it wasn’t their fault… help them and make sure that by getting involved in helping them, spreading the word about the dangers of the infection, you at least try to limit the dangers of this disease… be the change you want to see in the world! Is the only way…
